Getting involved in research

Research is the most important way we can improve treatments and care for the patients of the future.

Whether you’re a member of the public, a patient or a carer, there are lots of ways you can get involved in research.

Ask your clinician

If your clinician doesn’t mention research, ask them what studies are available.

Sign up to a research register

You can add your name and details to the Be Part of Research register. This is the register for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the research arm of the UK government.

Get involved in shaping research

Research is better when it’s shaped by the people it affects. Patient and public involvement is key to making our studies a success.

We work with People in Health West of England, who help connect members of the public with research involvement opportunities. You can join their mailing list via their website.
