The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) provides a local service for Bristol children and a referral service for specialist care for families across the South West and nationally.

  • Brewnel's Coffee House, Level 2, main reception. Open Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 4pm. Offers a range of light meals and snacks

  • drop-down beds with linens for one parent or guardian to stay overnight, with the exception of the intensive care unit and our short stay surgery ward

By bus

Many bus services stop near and around our City site, making it a key arrival point for patients, visitors, and staff.

A free shuttle bus service is provided for patients, visitors, and staff. The circular route includes Bristol Temple Meads railway station and our city centre hospital sites. There is also a service that runs between the Weston and City sites. The service runs Monday to Friday.

By cycling

You can plan your route on Better By Bike.

We have over 80 spaces for people to park their bikes free of change across all of our City sites.

By train

You can plan your route at the official source for trains in Great Britain, National Rail .

The nearest stations are:

Each station has bus connections to the hospital.

Car parking

Car parks

We highly recommend allowing extra time for your journey and for parking.

Please do not park in staff only car parks.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) car parks do not require you to pay on entering or display a ticket, you pay before exiting.

  • Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre
  • Bristol Royal Infirmary
  • Montague Hill South/Dighton Street, next to Trust Headquarters

Pay machines are located either within the car parks, or within the main reception areas of our hospitals.

 

Drop-off and pick up areas

These are free time-limited areas, drivers should stay with their vehicle. 

These are located at:

  • Bristol Heart Institute (15 minutes maximum stay)
  • Bristol Royal Infirmary main entrance (15 minutes maximum stay)
  • Bristol Royal Hospital for Children main entrance (15 minutes maximum stay)
  • St Michael's Hospital (15 minutes maximum stay)
  • Bristol Royal Infirmary main entrance express lane (drop-off only. No waiting. 2.7 metre height restriction)

City site car parking charges

Parking charges apply 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • charges from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday:      
    • 0 to 1 hour: £3.20
    • 1 to 2 hours: £4.20  
    • 2 to 4 hours: £7.30
    • 4 to 6 hours: £9.40
    • 6 to 8 hours: £19.00
    • 8 to 24 hours: £26.50
    • overnight parking from 5pm to 7am, Monday to Sunday: £3.50

Blue Badge parking

Blue Badge holders can park free of charge in any of our parking spaces (apart from the drop-off spaces).

  • If using a designated Blue Badge parking bay, make sure your Blue Badge is clearly displayed.
  • Scan your Blue Badge at the pay machine before exiting the car park if using an ANPR car park (listed above), or when prompted at the pay machine at Montague Hill South car park.
  • If you need help, ask a parking attendant or contact the Parking Team, details below.

Off-site parking

Parking concessions

Some visitors may qualify for reduced rate or free parking including:  

  • patients who need to attend hospital regularly for outpatient care
  • parents or guardians of children staying overnight 
  • people receiving regular cancer treatment 
  • registered volunteers

If you are not sure whether you qualify, please ask the Parking Team or speak to your clinical team.

For help with parking information, accessibility needs, or assistance during emergencies:

  • call the Parking Team on 0117 342 0663, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm
  • if you are unable to call, a member of staff can contact the Parking Team for you

Our car parks are patrolled by security officers. If you feel unsafe, cannot find your car, or need urgent help outside of Parking Team hours:

  • call the Security Team on 0117 324 2945, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • if you are unable to call, a member of staff can contact the Security Team for you
