Bristol City’s visit to the hospital was part of their ‘giving back day’ where players and members club visit places in the local community to spread joy and happiness.
Players Jason Knight, Rob Dickie, Luke McNally, George Tanner, Max Bird, Sporting Director James Ellis and Football Strategy Manager Lucy Wood were all part of the visit.
At the hospital, the players spent time on Apollo Ward, a ward designed especially for children aged between 11-16, where they played table football, air hockey. They also designed a Bristol City themed ceiling tile to be added to the collection already present on the ward.
The team, who are in their pre-season, were put through their paces in the Activity Centre garden by patients and families, during a kickabout.

“While we cover the largest geographical region of any children’s hospital in the UK, we have plenty of Bristol City fans, both families and colleagues, who were delighted to meet some of their heroes.
“Thank you on behalf of everyone at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to Bristol City FC players and staff for coming to visit us, helping celebrate our 25th birthday and most importantly - spread joy to those in our care.”
The club finished the visit by gifting the hospital a special signed ‘Thank you, 25 years’ shirt in recognition of the 25th birthday of the current Bristol Royal Hospital for Children building.
